The regulation imposes specific requirements:
- assessments of noise exposure where personnel are or are likely to be exposed to risk
- noise reduction by elimination at source or reduction to a minimum
- provision of information to workers where exposure exceeds 80 dB(A)/112 Pa
- marking ear protection zones with approriate signage where exposure may exceed 85 dB(A)/140 Pa
- provision of hearing protectors at 80 dB(A)/112 Pa
- an exposure limit of 87 dB(A)/200 Pa at the ear
